BCIJ arrested the first eight suspects Friday morning in Tangier.
Rabat – Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) announced the arrest of a ninth suspect in Tangier on Friday for his alleged connection with a terror cell dismantled earlier in the day in the northern city.
The suspect is being investigated for promoting extremism and planning terror attacks across Morocco.
Police placed the suspect in custody for further investigation to determine any possible other members connected to the dismantled cell.
BCIJ arrested eight suspects in the same cell Friday morning in Tangier.
The suspects were aged between 20 and 31.
Created in 2015, BCIJ has dismantled hundreds of terror cells, strengthening Morocco’s counterterrorism strategy, which is widely renowned for its efficiency.
