The Monbukagashuko Scholarship offers Moroccan nationals the opportunity to study in Japan.
Rabat – The Japanese Government has launched a competition awarding scholarships to Moroccan students for the year 2020. The Japanese Embassy in Rabat has announced that the new scholarship offers the opportunity for Moroccans to study in Japan with financial assistance.
There are four categories that Moroccan citizens can apply for with the Monbukagakusho Scholarship, including for research students who can study for up to two years or more and for undergraduate students who are able to study for five years or more.
Formerly known as the Monbusho Scholarship, around 65,000 students from over 150 countries have studied in Japan thanks to this academic scholarship. Established in 1954, the scholarship recipients are assessed initially by the Japanese Embassy.
Ambassador Hanatani announced in a press release on Tuesday 7th May that the number of scholarships is limited, and that the scholarship is awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan.
The Japanese Government Fellowship Preselection Competition for the year 2018, overseen in 2017 by the Embassy of Japan in Morocco, selected a total of four Moroccans who succeeded in the application process; three in the category of “research students” and one in the category of “undergraduate students.”
No applicants were successful in the category “specialized training college students.”
The Embassy has advised hopeful applicants to consult the Embassy directly for further details of the scholarships. In its press release on Tuesday, the Embassy of Japan stated that “explanations regarding these scholarships as well as the new conditions for registration in the pre-selection competition with the download links of the forms are published on the website of the Embassy of Japan.”
The deadlines for the applications are May 17 and May 24, 2019.
