Forensic scientists are working to identify the cause of death. Police have not ruled out the possibility of homicide.
Tangier – After gardeners at the Hoummane El Fetouaki school in Safi discovered human remains in the school’s courtyard on Thursday, November 14, local authorities quickly got involved.
Students and teachers were horrified to learn of the human skull and bones.
The Arabic-language daily Al Massae reported that Safi’s provincial director of education and judicial police, accompanied by a scientific and technical division, arrived at the scene soon after the gardeners alerted the school administration.
After a preliminary investigation, authorities alerted the national security services of Safi and transported the remains to a forensic laboratory for further analysis.
Forensic scientists will identify the sex and age of the body, as well as the cause of death.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of homicide, Le360 reported. However, some authorities have pointed out that the schoolyard encompasses a dilapidated cemetery that had been evacuated before the school’s construction.
