Rabat - Morocco’s international player Achraf Hakimi, has won the Young Arab Player awarded by Globe Soccer, in a ceremony held on Sunday in Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah Resort, United Arab Emirates.
Rabat – Morocco’s international player Achraf Hakimi, has won the Young Arab Player awarded by Globe Soccer, in a ceremony held on Sunday in Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah Resort, United Arab Emirates.
The 21-year-old player, who plays on loan with Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid, delivered outstanding performances with his current team this year whether in Bundesliga or in the Champions League.
The international Moroccan player scored 4 goals in this year’s Champions League, which earned him the praise of media, and football fans around the world.
Madrid’s based sports news Marca described Hakimi as the most prominent star of Borussia Dortmund in the wake of his outstanding performances with his club both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
In addition to his stellar and regular performances in the German league, Hakimi has also been a key player in the Moroccan national team since he joined it in the fall of 2017.
Hakimi was instrumental in helping his national team secure its ticket for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where he played every minute of the three matches of the Moroccan national team.
The Guardian has recently ranked Achraf Hakimi 90th in its list of the world’s 100 best male football players.
This is not Hakimi’s first recognition in the world of soccer. In 2018, he won the African Youth Player of the Year awarded by the Confederation of African Football.
Today’s recognition may strengthen Achraf Hakimi’s chances to win once again the African Youth Player of the Year award. Hakimi has been shortlisted for this year’s award along with with Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen.
