Rabat – The US has yet again renewed its pro-Moroccan position on the Western Sahara conflict in a newly published world map displaying Morocco’s integral map with its southern provinces.

The US State Department has released a new world map visualizing the US presence across the world.

The map shows Morocco with its southern regions, confirming the US’ support for Morocco’s stance in the Western Sahara conflict.

It also comes to further refute or discredit long-running suggestions and hopes in pro-Polisario circles that the Biden administration might reconsider the previous US government’s declaration of unambiguous support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.

In December 2020, former US President Donald Trump recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.

The move shocked and angered Polisario and its supporters, including Algeria, who have since been unrelentingly campaigning for the Biden White House to reverse the US’ pro-Morocco position on the Sahara conflict.

However, reports from the White House, the State Department, and various government agencies — including the CIA and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — suggest that Biden’s administration intends to uphold the Trump administration’s promises to a crucial US ally in the MENA region.

Notably, the Biden administration has reaffirmed the US’ support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for Western Sahara, describing it as a serious and credible step towards a lasting solution to the regional conflict.
