Morocco’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation announced on January 10 the availability of scholarships for master and PhD degrees at the Beijing Institute of Technology, China.
Moroccan students wishing to pursue their higher education in China can send applications by April 15, according to the Ministry’s announcement.
The scholarship opening is part of the Chinese Government Scholarship Program for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The program provides tuition waiver, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend to successful students. Links to the university application and registration process are available on the website of the Moroccan Ministry of Education, which interested candidates can visit to check the requirements and guidelines for application.
To be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants must show proof of a degree that allows access to the requested course of study or its equivalent. The age limit is also set at 35 years old for Master’s degree applicants and 40 years old for PhD applicants.
Candidates must “meet the academic, linguistic and professional requirements demanded by the [Chinese] university” of their choosing, says a statement by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Teaching languages for this scholarship program are English and Chinese, it added.

Moroccan students have shown a tendency to apply for Chinese scholarships in recent years. Mehdi El Ihsani, director of the Foreign Universities Scholarships and Admissions Assistant Agency (FUSAAA), said that his agency helped file in 2021 the scholarship applications of almost 500 Moroccan students who sought to study in China.
Data from the FUSAAA, which has been assisting Moroccan students to pursue their studies in China since 2017, indicate that interest in Chinese universities and China in general has exponentially increased among Moroccan applicants in recent years.
