Rabat – International “startup accelerator” program Plug and Play (PnP) is wrapping up the 2021 second acceleration program in Morocco’s ‘Batch 2’.
PnP is organizing a March 4 networking event in Casablanca In collaboration with Morocco’s state-owned phosphate giant OCP and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. The event aims to link local corporations, government bodies, and investors with the 11 Africa startups from ‘Batch 2.’
Hosted by local TV news anchor Khadija Ihsane, the event will feature five speakers sharing the stage and conclude with announcing the funds raised for the 11 startups, according to a press release.
Speakers at the event include Yasser Biaz, founder and CEO of UMP6 Ventures, a venture capital dedicated to startups, Kenza Lahlou, Co-Founder & General Partner at Outlierz, an Africa-focused venture fund, Idris Ayodeji Bello, Founding Partner LoftyInc Capital Management, an innovation-focused development company, Tiziana F. Bombassei, Regional Manager MENA, Seedstars, and Nora Ibrahim, Senior Associate at Impact Trade Finance Fund.
The program hosted 11 startups over the second edition, offering them access to state-of-the-art facilities and services to help them boost their growth rate.
Startups within Batch 2 include Deepecho, Electriciti, Emata, I-Sense, Jobop, MintHR, Mouhimatech, PEGA Health, Saweblia, Veezen, WattNow, and WAFR.
First debuting in the American innovation hub Silicon Valley, the Plug and Play program aims to mediate between small businesses, paving the way for growth opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs.
Launched in 2006, the program is now the world’s largest program connecting corporations, startups, and investors.
Since its inception, the program has extended to 30,000 startups covering 30 countries and partnering with 500 entities. Over the past six years, startups within the program have raised an accumulative $9 billion in funding.
