Rabat – the UAE government expects the holy month of Ramadan to start on April 2 and conclude on May 2.
The UAE began preparations for the holy month after the Emirates Astronomy Society estimated that April 2 would be the first day of Ramadan 2022.
Now the government has officially said that Ramadan will begin on April 2.
Saudi Arabia has announced that Ramadan will begin on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
The UAE government announced, through Khaleej Times, the official work hours, as well as overtime hours for the private sector, in accordance with the country’s new labor law.
“Normal working hours shall be reduced by two hours during the holy month of Ramadan,” said the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
The same source also stated that overtime working hours should not exceed two hours in a day, “unless the work is necessary to avoid any serious loss or accident.”
Muslims all over the world fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan. They are not permitted to eat, drink, smoke, or engage in sexual activities until the sun sets.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Hijri lunar calendar, which is Islam’s official calendar.
In Islam, Ramadan is regarded as a month of worship and growing closer to God. Muslims all over the world undertake religious practices in order to express their faith.
In Ramadan 2021, the UAE canceled all annual Ramadan iftar tent permits as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The iftar tents will be coming back in Ramadan 2022.
The National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) announced on Monday, March 14, a protocol for setting up fasting iftar tents for the holy month of Ramadan.
The precautions include the implementation of a green pass that is required to enter an iftar tent and the deployment of security guards and volunteers to organize entering and leaving the tents.
The iftar tents will also have the usual regulations like requiring the use of face masks, social distancing, and providing free face masks and sanitation products around tents.
