Rabat – Eid Al Fitr 2022 is expected to take place on Monday May 2 in Kuwait, Al Ojeiri Astronomy Center has announced.
Al Ojeiri said in a press release today, Monday, that its astronomical calculations indicated that the crescent moon of Shawwal, will be visible on Saturday, April 30, at 11:29 pm.
Shawwal is the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, marking the end of Ramadan.
The sun will set on Sunday, May 1 at 6:24 pm and the moon will rise on the same day at 7:03 pm, the release added.
As the moon appears after sunset, the condition for the start of the new lunar month is fulfilled according to approved astronomical standards, added Al Ojeiri.
The communal Eid Al Fitr prayer in Kuwait will be at 5:21 am, according to the same source.
The Gulf country will reveal the official date of Eid Al Fitr after the sighting of the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal.
Shawwal is the tenth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to The Civil Service Commission (CSC), the Eid Al Fitr holiday in Kuwait will take place from Sunday, May 1 to Thursday, May 5, with state and government authorities resuming work on Sunday, May 8.
The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is preparing for the Eid Al Fitr holiday with various measures aimed at easing movement at the airport during the Eid holiday.
More than 350,000 people are scheduled to use the Kuwait International Airport during this period.
Al-Qabas newspaper has reported that Kuwaiti authorities have limited Eid prayer to major mosques only this year.
