Rabat – One of Nigeria’s largest newspapers, The Nation, has highlighted OCP’s important contribution to increasing the share of women in Africa’s growing agribusiness industry. In an analysis highlighting “women is Africa’s agribusiness,” the Lagos-based publication described the importance of the fertilizer industry as the “foundation of the food sector,” and highlighted the growing importance of women leaders in the industry.
The fertilizer industry, which Morocco’s OCP Group is a key player in, feeds roughly half the world’s population, and women have an important role to play in this vital sector. “From Morocco to Nigeria and South Africa, the influence of women in the industry has been growing,” the Nation highlights, adding that women are set to boost food security on the continent.
OCP Group and others are investing significant funds and efforts into ensuring women have a key role in the growing industry that holds the promise to end food insecurity on the continent with the most arable land for food production.
Director-General of the International Fertilizer Association (IFC) Alzbeta Klein indicated that she felt her organization “has support in OCP Group, which not only leads the continent in the fertilizer market, but also promotes initiatives to enhance the active participation of women in agriculture.”

The Nation’s analysis highlighted how 17% of OCP Group’s top management positions are currently filled by women, and reserved special mention for OCP’s Executive Vice President Ghislane Guedira, commending her work and long-term vision.
The Nigerian paper concluded: “With more than 20,000 employees of various nationalities, and a turnover of $9.4 billion in last year, OCP Group is one of the largest private employers in Morocco and is at the forefront of gender diversity, inclusion and equal career opportunities.”
