Rabat – Rabat’s Khalil Gibran International School hosted on Tuesday an event organized by Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency on the occasion of the second edition of the simulation model for the international childhood summit for Al-Quds.

This edition engaged children at the international school to discuss life for children living in the Holy City of Al Quds (Jerusalem). Students also talked about the idea of the Palestinian cause, as well as tolerance for other religions and living amongst different cultures.

Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, Director of the Al-Quds Asharif Agency, also mentioned the possibility of communication with children living in the city. The idea of “Pen Pals” was proposed, with children in the Holy City and those at Khalil Gibran school sharing experiences with one another.

Fouad Lyoubi, director of the international school, welcomed the organization of the event. Speaking to MAP, Lyoubi said the school focused on encouraging the ideas of tolerance and acceptance. He believes these values are important for his students, who are made up of 75 different nationalities.

The Khalil Gibran International School first hosted this type of event for the first time in March 2021 as the Rabat school partnered with Les Freses School from Al-Quds. During last year’s edition, the two schools established the “Children for Al-Quds” club topromote the values of peace and love, and to “improve collective awareness of young people on humanitarian issues.”

The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, a branch of the Al Quds Committee, pools funds for the many projects the committee organizes in the Holy City. Formed in 1998, the agency has conducted various other initiatives to support the inhabitants of the city.

One such project is the Kafalt Al Yateem Program, which provides a monthly sponsorship $80 for orphan children in Al Quds, and an annual summer camp program also facilities 50 Palestinian children.
