Rabat – In the annual celebration that acknowledges influential Moroccan women on March 8, the time calls to recognize women given their genuine spirit of goodwill and work ethic. These pioneers have achieved the highest echelons of society. One of these women is Imane Zaoui.
Zaoui graduated from the High Institute of Commerce and Business Administration (ISCAE) in Casablanca, majoring in finance.
In 2004, she started marketing as a brand manager in a Moroccan group of cosmetic products until 2007. Since then, she has joined Nestle, the world’s largest food and beverage company, where she became a general business manager in 2020.
In an interview with Sophia Sebti TV Zaoui said: “Of course, I had a lot of apprehension in the field, particularly with regard to the traditional market. I thought being a woman would be disabling, but that was not the case. On the contrary, I was very well received and I was able to build relationships of trust and partnership with the various customers in the region for which I was in charge.”
Zaoui had the intention to attain her father’s objective to become a certified public accountant. “Only after my end of study internship did I realize that I was attaining my father’s dream instead, not mine. It took me, however, some time and a lot of courage to tell my father that I was not going to take the entrance examination,” she explained.
Zaoui believes that to be successful, one must aspire to add value to the business rather than to one’s personal career. “The career has never been an end in itself. I am passionate about what I do and have always chosen what I thought was good for the business.”
In 2022, Zaoui won the second edition of Industry Meeting Awards. The award symbolizes her role as an industry leader, piloting a significant enterprise in agribusiness.
Furthermore, Zaoui was recently appointed vice-president of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Morocco (CCSM).
Zaoui’s little family and shared passion
Zaoui is the mother of two children. For her, family is the most important element in life. “I was lucky to be extremely supported by my family, especially my husband. We must never miss the opportunity to express our love and affection for our relatives.”
Zaoui has got a passion outside of her professional life which she shares with the most cherished people. “The kitchen allows me to make up my mind and reshape my ideas.”
