Rabat – In a significant move towards closing the gender gap in the technology industry, Huawei Morocco, in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, has organized a training program aimed at supporting women in their digital transition.
The initiative is part of the Chinese giant’s global program called “Tech for Her, Tech by Her, and Tech with Her,” which seeks to increase the presence of women in the tech sector and related sectors, Chief Brand Officer of Huawei Morocco Nabil Ouchagour told Morocco World News.
Ouchagour expressed pride in the partnership with the ministry and gratitude for their support to bring the Women In Tech program to fruition.
The training program, which marked the second session, is taking place between June 12 and 14 in Rabat. The event was organized in conjunction with the Inter-Ministerial Consultation Network, which aims to strengthen women’s involvement in the technological sector.
“It is an honor for me and for my country, which firmly believes in the principles of equality and encourages the inclusion of gender in education and digital inclusion, to be present among you for the launch of the second session of Women in Tech,” Ouchagour said in his opening remarks on Monday.
Speaking about the first session of the training program, Ouchagour said that it yielded various success stories, witnessing the participation of 50 women from around 14 institutions.
It included a wide range of activities, with one notable aspect of the program being the live sessions conducted with Huawei’s headquarters in China, he indicated.
During these virtual sessions, Huawei experts presented various technological solutions and their applications across different sectors, such as ports, health, and smart mining.
In turn, the participants had the opportunity to discover and learn about the potential of these solutions firsthand and engage in live discussions with the experts, creating highly engaging and informative sessions.

Women’s inclusion in tech is a shared concern
What makes this ongoing session particularly unique is the inclusion of men as participants, highlighting that gender equality in the tech industry is not solely a women’s issue, but a concern for everyone, Ouchagour told MWN.
The training program encompasses both technical topics, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data, presented by certified Huawei experts, as well as soft skills like design thinking presented by other experts.
The technical topics will equip the participants with valuable tools and cutting-edge knowledge and insights into emerging technologies. Meanwhile, the soft skills component will focus on enhancing their problem-solving and innovation abilities, fostering a holistic approach to technological transformation.

Women In Tech – Morocco 2023
Through this comprehensive approach, the program aims to equip women with the necessary tools, knowledge, and leadership skills to boost their confidence and active participation in Morocco’s digital transition, Ouchagour underlined.
The first day of the event featured training in Design Thinking, with a virtual visit to the Huawei showroom in China. During the second and third days, the participants will receive training in Change Management and Agile Method Basics, respectively.
“I would like to emphasize that through this program, our aim is to provide effective knowledge and skills, and meet the needs of the participants. That’s why we made an effort to gather various internal and external experts in each field during the first Women in Tech session,” Ouchagour explained.
He added that the organizers enhanced these training sessions with “practical workshops … enabling participants to gain a deeper understanding of the latest technological trends and share Huawei’s expertise in ICT [Information and Communication Technologies].”
Huawei is committed to promoting inclusion and gender equality
He noted that the program is part of Huawei’s vision to position Morocco as a “regional digital hub in Africa,” recognizing the country’s significance and the importance of leveraging its expertise to support this transformation.
By empowering women in the digital sector, the Chinese company seeks to promote an inclusive and diverse digital ecosystem that can drive innovation and economic growth.
Women In Tech serves as a stepping stone for women to take on leadership roles and contribute significantly to the digital landscape in Morocco. By promoting diversity and bridging the gender gap, Huawei and its partners aim to create an environment where women thrive and shine in the tech industry.

Huawei’s Women In Tech event
Huawei hopes that, after the event ends, the impact of the program will be evident with women equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to shape the future of Morocco’s technological transformation.
“Huawei is committed to creating opportunities and providing crucial support for women to achieve its goal of building an inclusive society that embraces diversity,” Ouchageur stressed, noting that the company’s commitment is apparent in the numerous initiatives it has launched worldwide to promote gender equality and inclusion.
With more efforts and collaborations like the Hauwei Women in Tech 2023, the tech industry in Morocco can put to use the untapped potential of women, further driving innovation and progress in the digital era.
The Women In Tech training program is part of an agreement that Huawei and the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform signed during the first edition Digitech Ecosystem Summit, which took place in July 2022.
