Tanzania team news
Head coach Hemed “Morocco” Suleiman has announced a 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zambia, with a combination of local players from Young Africans as well as some foreign-based players.
The squad has no senior forwards (Mbwana Samatta, Simon Msuva and Kelvin John) so it’s all about the in-form domestic players. Suleiman’s side will maintain the disciplined and solid defensive style they have been playing recently.
Coach Suleiman said that the team is now focusing on the future, including the AFCON finals in Morocco later this year and AFCON 2027.
Predicted lineup: Ali, Msindo, Hamad, Job, Kapombe, Dismas, Yahya, Salum, Samatta, Mzize, Msuva
Zambia team news
Head coach Avram Grant has announced a squad of 26 players for the World Cup qualifier against Tanzania. Goalkeepers Toaster Nsabata and Francis Mwansa have been dropped in favour of Patrick Chooma (Nkana FC) and Lawrence Mulenga (Power Dynamos).
Grant expressed his frustration at local clubs that put their goalkeepers on the bench after being away with the national team. So, no domestic players are not currently at the required level to compete with players on the international stage.
Zambia’s campaign has been poor and they are out of qualification contention. Grant wants to win the remaining matches and finish second in the group.
The coach will rely on his experienced players while continuing to try out local talent, focusing on defensive discipline and organization after recent late-game collapses.
Predicted lineup: Nsabata. Chisala, Chongo, Sakala, Mfande, Sakala, Chaiva, Banda, Kangwa, Banda, Daka

What to expect
Tanzania will set up defensively and play compactly, looking to use home conditions to disrupt Zambia’s rhythm. Grant’s should look for possession and quick combinations in attack.
Based on both teams’ recent form and tactics, the game will be close and low scoring with the midfield and transitions being the deciding factor on who wins.
Safe calls
