Marrakech – With the Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off in a few weeks, The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed its plans to curb doping and performance-enhancing drugs.
Through its anti-doping unit, CAF aims to guarantee clean competition, ensuring sporting fairness across all participating teams.
After every match, a CAF officer will take samples from two players from each team. These players can either be randomly or deliberately selected, at the discretion of the CAF anti-doping unit officers.
Selected players will be obligated to report to the testing room right after the match’s conclusion. From the field of play to the doping control room, these players will be escorted by a CAF chaperone. The confederation says all players must also be accompanied by a team official, preferably the team doctor, until the conclusion of the sampling.

Players may also be picked to undergo doping control outside the confines of the stadium. CAF says that, during the competition, players may be subject to doping control tests at any moment and in any place.
CAF has also undertaken measures to ensure players’ health and safety, setting up clinics, medical teams, ground and air ambulances, and injury data collection systems at airports, stadiums, and hotels.
The tournament will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 across six different Moroccan cities: Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tangier.
