Rabat – In light of the significant improvement in weather conditions across the country, the Ministry of Interior will begin implementing measures to ensure the safe, gradual return of residents, in close coordination with relevant authorities and sectors.
The residents were previously evacuated from several communities in the provinces of Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane. These areas were officially declared disaster zones by the government following the recent catastrophic floods.
Since February 7, 2026, cleanup operations have been underway in neighborhoods and rural communities where conditions permit. Personnel have been removing flood debris, reopening roads and pathways, and restoring access to drinking water, electricity, sanitation, and telecommunications. The aim is to prepare affected areas for residents to return under safe and healthy conditions.
Each affected province has been assigned a tailored action plan to ensure a gradual resumption of public services, following a flexible approach that adapts to evolving conditions. Authorities have mapped out detailed logisticsincluding transportation arrangements, movement routes, and phased scheduling, to guarantee smooth operations and the safety of returning residents.
Authorities will announce specific neighborhoods and communities eligible for each phase of the return through official statements and accessible communication channels, including text messages to affected households.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that only residents explicitly authorized in official announcements should return to the affected areas. Checkpoints will be established at entry points to ensure the return is limited to eligible residents and conducted safely.
The ministry also commended the strong sense of responsibility and civic spirit demonstrated by residents in Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane, urging continued vigilance and adherence to official guidance.
Authorities reaffirmed their full mobilization to provide all necessary support until the return process is completed under the best possible conditions.
