Rabat – FIFA has given final approval for midfielder Nassim El Harmouz to change his sporting nationality, clearing the way for him to represent Morocco at the senior international level.
The 19-year-old, who currently plays for Feyenoord Rotterdam, is now eligible to play for Morocco after the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) completed the relevant administrative process.
El Harmouz was born in Amsterdam and came through the Dutch youth system before committing to Morocco. His development followed a steady path at Feyenoord, where he moved from the Under-18 squad in the 2022-23 season to the Under-19s the following year, before stepping up to the Under-21 side from 2024 onward.
Each stage reflected increasing trust from the club’s technical staff.
Comfortable both as a defensive midfielder and as a central defender, El Harmouz is known for his positional discipline and his ability to recover possession before restarting play from deep areas. His role often focuses on stabilizing the midfield structure rather than pushing forward into attacking positions.
Last season, he featured in seven of Feyenoord’s 14 youth matches. He recorded one goal and one assist, along with a low disciplinary record, underlining a controlled style of play rather than high-risk intervention.
Feyenoord recently extended his contract until 2028, signaling long-term confidence in his development trajectory.
With FIFA’s approval now in place, El Harmouz joins the growing group of Europe-developed players who have opted to represent Morocco, strengthening the national team’s emerging pool of young talent ahead of upcoming international competitions.
