Agadir – Prince Moulay Rachid chaired on Sunday the final of the 25th Hassan II Trophy for traditional Tbourida arts, held at the Royal Tbourida Complex Dar Es Salam in Rabat.
Organized by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports from June 15 to 21, the week-week-long competition brought together troupes from across Morocco to compete in one of the country’s most celebrated traditional equestrian disciplines.
Beside the prince, several government officials, elected representatives, sports leaders, and federation members attended the event, including Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of Agriculture Ahmed El Bouari, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and Secretary of State Lahcen Essaadi.
Prince Moulay Rachid awarded medals to the winning troupes in both the Youth and Senior categories at the end of the competition.Â
In the Youth category, the gold medal went to the troupe led by Moqaddem Zrizaâ Badr from Mediouna in the Casablanca-Settat region. The silver medal was awarded to the troupe of Moqaddem El Khadi Badr Eddine from Youssoufia in the Marrakech-Safi region, while the bronze medal went to the troupe of Moqaddem El Kazoumi Houssam from Guelmim in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.
In the Senior category, the top prize was claimed by the troupe of Moqaddem Talhouni Mohamed Amine from Settat. The silver medal went to the troupe led by Moqaddem El Heloua Abdelhadi from Skhirat-Temara, while the troupe of Moqaddem Anjar El Mehdi from Marrakech-Menara secured third place.
A traditional equestrian performance rooted in Morocco’s military and cultural heritage, Tbourida remains one of the country’s most emblematic cultural expressions. The practice was inscribed in 2021 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
