Rabat – Moroccan youngster Younes Idder reached a major new point in his career after receiving his first call-up to Paris Saint-Germain’s senior squad and making his official first-team debut in the club’s preseason friendly against Real Mallorca.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder was named in Luis Enrique’s 23-man traveling squad for PSG’s first preseason fixture of the 2026-2027 campaign, highlighting the confidence the Spanish coach has in one of the club’s most promising academy graduates.

Debut

The match, played at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix, allowed Idder to take his first steps with the senior team. He entered the game in the 61st minute, replacing fellow academy product Ibrahim Mbaye, to register his first official appearance for the French champions.

Although a youthful PSG side suffered a 3-0 defeat to Mallorca, the result did little to overshadow what was a memorable evening for the Moroccan young talent, who fulfilled a long-awaited dream by making his senior debut for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Previous achievements

Idder’s promotion to the first team comes after an outstanding campaign with PSG’s academy. He played a key role in helping the club win both the Coupe Gambardella and the Championnat National U19, performances that earned him a new two-year trainee contract with the club’s Espoirs setup earlier this summer.

His rapid rise through the ranks reflects PSG’s growing faith in his potential, with the club rewarding his consistent development by giving him the opportunity to experience senior football under Luis Enrique.

For Moroccan football, Idder’s breakthrough represents another encouraging sign of the country’s growing pool of young talent succeeding at elite European clubs. His debut also places him among the latest generation of Moroccan prospects aiming to establish themselves on the biggest stage.

With preseason still underway, the midfielder will now hope to build on this first appearance and continue impressing as he pushes for further opportunities with the Ligue 1 champions.

Who is Younes Idder?

Younes Idder is an 18-year-old Moroccan attacking midfielder regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Paris Saint-Germain’s academy. Comfortable playing as a central attacking midfielder or in advanced midfield roles, he has steadily progressed through the club’s youth system thanks to his technical quality, creativity, and vision.

During the 2025-2026 season, Idder helped PSG’s youth teams secure a domestic double by winning both the Coupe Gambardella, France’s premier youth cup competition, and the Championnat National U19 title. His performances convinced the club to hand him a two-year trainee contract, underlining PSG’s long-term plans for his development.

His inclusion in Luis Enrique’s first-team squad against Real Mallorca and his subsequent senior debut marks the biggest moment of his career to date and could be the first of many appearances for the French champions as he continues his development.
