Safi – Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari said the style of play under coach Vincent Kompany drove his decision to join Bayern Munich.
Bayern signed Saibari from PSV Eindhoven this summer, with the contract running until 2031.
“Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Their style of play suits me. They’ve given me the confidence that I can improve here,” Saibari told reporters on Friday. “Bayern have been playing with great intensity since Vincent Kompany took over. I saw that myself last season. I like this style of play, and I’m looking forward to the new task.”
The 25-year-old added that he sees himself as a playmaker but can fill several roles. “My favorite position is number 10, everyone knows that. But I can play in several positions, we always switch around during games anyway,” he noted. “I can also play out wide and a bit deeper.”

According to sporting director Max Eberl, a Champions League meeting between the sides in January, which Bayern won, convinced the club to move for Saibari.
“We’ve known Ismael for some time. The final real sign that he was the right player for FC Bayern was the match against us,” Eberl recalled. “He caused problems again and again with his pace and versatility. He’s got something special.”
Saibari scored in each of Morocco’s three group-stage games at the 2026 World Cup, against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti, and recorded 42 goals and 29 assists across his time at PSV, where he was named the Dutch league’s player of the season in his final campaign.
A World Cup thigh injury delayed his Bayern debut, but Saibari has returned to full team training ahead of the new season.
