A total of 702 candidate lists had been submitted through Morocco’s electronic platform by Monday at 2 p.m. for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives, according to a source at the Ministry of Interior.
The lists include candidates from 27 political parties, with the submission process proceeding under normal conditions, the same source said.
The electronic filing process has covered all local electoral constituencies as well as regional constituencies nationwide, according to the ministry.
Candidate declarations for the legislative elections, scheduled for September 23, opened Monday at 8 a.m. through the dedicated online platform.
The electronic system is being used to facilitate the submission of candidacies ahead of the vote, which will determine the composition of Morocco’s next House of Representatives.

The electoral process has now entered a key phase as political parties put forward their candidates and prepare to campaign ahead of polling day. Candidate applications opened on August 31, marking the formal start of the process through which parties will seek to secure representation across Morocco’s local and regional constituencies.
The vote will involve Moroccan citizens who meet the legal eligibility requirements and are registered on the general electoral rolls. Authorities previously opened an exceptional registration period from May 15 to June 13 for eligible citizens who had not yet registered, including those who would turn 18 by election day.
For registered voters, authorities have also begun distributing notices informing them of their designated polling stations. The notice is not required to cast a ballot, however, as voters can establish their identity at polling stations using their national electronic identity cards.
With the election approaching, attention is expected to shift toward the competing parties, their electoral programs, and the issues likely to shape voters’ choices as campaigning gets underway.
