Casablanca – Police in central Casablanca have arrested six minors suspected of involvement in an incident in which a foreign national claimed he was pelted with stones by a group of children.
The Casablanca Police Prefecture said Tuesday that it had responded to a video posted on social media showing the foreign national making the allegation.
Investigations into the video found that the case is already being handled by the judicial police unit in Casablanca’s Anfa security district. Police said the inquiries led to the identification of the minors suspected of being involved.
Six of them were subsequently arrested. During the operation, officers found in their possession five dogs that officers described as belonging to a dangerous breed.
The dogs were handed over to the relevant veterinary services, according to the police statement.
The six minors have meanwhile been placed under judicial investigation by the juvenile unit at the Anfa judicial police service. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
Authorities said the inquiry is aimed at establishing all the circumstances and details surrounding the case.
The police statement did not provide further details about the foreign national’s identity, the nature of the alleged injuries, or the circumstances in which the reported stone throwing took place.
