Rabat – Valencia CF cleared out their top leadership on Sunday, firing both head coach Carlos Corberan and CEO Ron Gourlay.
The decision follows a difficult opening to the campaign that has left the club without a single victory.
The dismissals come amid growing frustration among Valencia supporters over the team’s poor start.
Appointed in December 2024, Corberan helped Valencia avoid relegation.
Despite guiding Valencia to a 9th-place finish last season, Corberan’s tactical style drew heavy criticism from supporters, with fans at Mestalla recently calling for his dismissal.
In total, he managed 72 matches during his tenure, recording 28 wins and 26 defeats.
Gourlay became CEO in May 2025 and had consistently backed Corberan in public despite mounting pressure on the manager.
The club’s backroom clearout was complete, with four members of Gourlay’s executive staff and Corberan’s entire coaching team also seeing their contracts terminated.
“This decision reflects the club’s intention to begin a new phase for the running of the sporting structure and football operations,” the club stated on Sunday.
“On an interim basis, VCF Mestalla coach Oscar Sanchez will take charge of the first team,” they added.
Valencia said details of the club’s revised sporting structure will be revealed soon, with the team set to face Deportivo Alaves on Tuesday.
