Casablanca – Al Hoceima is expanding its higher education offer with three new institutions under Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, adding programs in business, technology, law and political science to the province’s existing university network.
The new institutions include the National School of Business and Management, the Higher School of Technology and the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences. The university announced the expansion on September 12, saying the new institutions will create additional training opportunities and widen access to higher education in the region.
The expansion comes as Al Hoceima already serves thousands of university students through its existing institutions. Government higher education statistics for 2024-2025 recorded 1,607 students at the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques in Al Hoceima and 1,750 students at the National School of Applied Sciences, bringing the combined student population at the two institutions to more than 3,300.
The new institutions will form part of the university complex in Aït Kamra, a project that authorities have been preparing for the 2026-2027 academic year. Registration has already started for students joining the new programs.
The permanent campus, however, is not yet fully ready. The university has arranged temporary facilities to allow classes to begin. Students at the National School of Business and Management and the Higher School of Technology will study at the National School of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques. Students at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences will attend classes at the socio-sports complex.

Work on the Aït Kamra complex has continued throughout 2026. A recent site assessment found that the main structural works had reached completion, while interior finishing, external works and electrical installations were still progressing.
The university also launched a public tender worth an estimated MAD 18.36 million for teaching furniture for the three institutions at the Aït Kamra campus. The tender covers the National School of Business and Management, the Higher School of Technology and the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences.
The expansion follows a wider effort to diversify higher education in the region. In June, the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University Council approved the creation of a Faculty of Economics and Management at the Aït Kamra complex.
The faculty will further expand the range of programs available in Al Hoceima and bring the number of university institutions linked to Abdelmalek Essaâdi University in the province to six.
The university says its broader role includes supporting the economic and social development of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region through training and research adapted to the region’s industrial, tourism, agricultural, commercial and maritime activities.
