Rabat – Moroccan football has made a remarkable impact at the 2024 CAF Awards, with Lamia Boumehdi, Sanaa Mssoudy, and Ghizlane Chebbak earning top honors for their exceptional contributions to the sport.

Boumehdi was named the Best Woman Coach at the 2024 CAF Awards, a recognition of her transformative work in women’s football.

A former captain of the Moroccan women’s national team, she transitioned into coaching after a career-ending injury at 26. She has since become a key figure in developing women’s football, particularly at TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In her acceptance speech, Boumehdi expressed deep gratitude to the Moroccan Football Federation for their support in advancing women’s football, saying: “Coaching is about guiding young talent and giving back to football, which has given me so much.”

Meanwhile, Sanaa Mssoudy was honored as the 2024 CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year, following an outstanding season with ASFAR.

Mssoudy has been a central figure at AS FAR, helping the club secure numerous titles. Her success underlines the growing prominence of Moroccan women’s football on the continental stage.

In yet another triumph for Moroccan football, Ghizlane Chebbak was named to the prestigious CAF Women’s Best XI of 2024.

The Moroccan player has been a key figure in her national team’s rise in international football, with her technical prowess and leadership helping Morocco achieve significant success.

The recognition of Boumehdi, Mssoudy, and Chebbak at the CAF Awards highlights the growing prominence of Moroccan women’s football. These individual triumphs contribute to the broader development of the sport in Africa.

Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to young female players across the continent and demonstrate the power of perseverance and passion for the game.
