Rabat – The State Department of the Judicial Police in Casablanca has begun investigations into a smuggling operation facilitated by police officers at the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca.

The State Department of the Judicial Police issued a statement on June 17 stating that it has opened a judicial investigation into a police inspector’s involvement in a case involving fraud and facilitating illegal immigration. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the special public prosecutor.

The official communiqué explains that authorities at the airport suspected the police officer was complicit in the affair by placing an entry stamp on forged Italian passports.

The passports belonged to twin sisters of Pakistani origin who attempted to travel to Europe illegally.

The communiqué adds that the State Department of the Judicial Police in Casablanca has been entrusted with the task of affording the judicial investigations all the necessary expertise for the purpose of revealing all the circumstances of this case.
