New York – In the wake of the bigotry and anti-Muslim rhetoric that has surged in the last few months, American actor Will Smith, who is against discrimination and racial profiling, said he would consider running for U.S. President.

During an interview on CBS’ “Sunday Morning” show, the Hollywood celebrity said he feels compelled to run for political office and end the “crazy kinds of stuff” candidates are promoting.

“If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena,” Smith said.

“I mean, I gotta be the president,” he said. “Come on!” he joked implying there is no doubt as of which role he wants to occupy.

Not content with being “the biggest movie star in the world” as he has been called, “The Fresh Prince’s” dreams are way beyond the entertainment industry.

“I realized that the dream was too small,” he stressed. “I realized that there was no way that I was put here just to be a movie star.”

A few weeks ago, according to the Huffington Post, Will Smith declared his political interest at the Hollywood Reporter’s Actor Roundtable.

“There might be a future out there for me,” he was quoted as saying in regards to his chances of holding political office in the U.S.

The “Men In Black” star has openly expressed his support for Muslims since the 9/11 terrorist attacks when he appeared in a video with former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali to defend Islam and support tolerance.

“It was hate, not religion that motivated the horrible acts of September 11”, he said at the time, while calling on American not to “respond to mindless hatred with blind vengeance”.

Actor, producer, rapper, and songwriter, Will Smith has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and three Academy Awards and has won four Grammy Awards.

His latest film, “Concussion,” where he plays forensic pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu, who discovers a connection between football injuries and brain damage, has earned him his third Oscar nomination.
