Rabat – In line with orders of King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, rain prayer (Salatul-Istisqaa) will be performed on Friday in all the regions, provinces and prefectures of the kingdom.
The rain prayer is made in accordance with the tradition of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace and prayer be upon Him.
A release of the ministry of Habous and Islamic affairs announced that HM the King decided that the rain prayers will be performed nationwide to pray the Almighty to bestow His beneficial rains on His creatures.
The Prophet (PBUH) made it a custom for the people to perform this prayer whenever a country affected by drought and seeks the mercy and grace of Allah (God) to send abundant rain.
Morocco’s agricultural sector depends heavily on seasonal rainfall. Rain has been very scarce this year, which could cause a steep decline in agricultural production and have a detrimental effect on Morocco’s national economy.
