Rabat – In a recent interview with TéléStar, French actor and comedian Franck Dubosc spoke about the fairly negative reception of his new movie “Camping 3” by Moroccan audiences during the Marrakech Du Rire Festival in Marrakech on June 3.
Many audience members left the film screening due to nudity. In one scene, Dubosc and his costars play a game of beach volleyball at a nudist beach.
“It is difficult over here [in Morocco] because you realize that culturally, it is ten centuries behind,” Dubosc said. “The veiled women and children left during the screening. There is still a lot of work to be done here.”
The comedian also criticized the movie’s PG rating in Morocco.
“Can you believe it? ‘Camping 3’ is forbidden for minors under the age of 16 in Morocco,” Dubosc said. “This is where it gets interesting to try and fix things. This is also what makes other movie producers and distributors avoid bringing their movies here, because they would have to cut all the scenes.”
The actor expressed his surprise at some audience members’ reactions to the film’s beach scene.
“Some [audience members] left, and others put their hands over their children’s eyes when they saw my swimsuit.”
