Rabat – The 12th annual Casablanca’s International Theater Festival will take place from March 23 to April 1, 2017 in the city’s many theaters.

The organizers of the festival announced the schedule of the event at a conference held Tuesday, March 7 in Casablanca.

This cultural event, initiated by the Fondation des Arts Vivants, promises to bring together leading figures of Moroccan, French, Belgian, Tunisian and Palestinian theatrical scenes to present their works to the public.

“This edition will feature high-quality performances, including the Kalila wa Dimna opera, which will take place at the Studio of Les Arts Vivants, supervised by Moneim Adwan and Olivier Letellier, and the Dance-Contemporary Opera designed and directed by André Pignat and Géraldine Lonfat,” said Noureddine Ayouch, president of the Fondation des Arts Vivants.

Moroccan theatrical shows will also partake in the festival’s program, including “Maqamat de Badi Azzaman Al Hamadani” by the late Tayeb Saddiki, said the director of the foundation, Jawad Sounani.

The play will feature many actors and actressesof Moroccan theater including Jamila El Haouni, Jalila Tlemsi, Adil Abatourab, Jamal Nouamane, Imane Reghay, Mustapha El Houari, and others, he added.

“Shakespeare in heart” directed by Lahcen Zinoun and “Fikoum fikoum” directed by Nabil El Mansouri are also on the program.

The event will also include other artistic activities such as workshops, conferences, and theatrical training sessions.
