Rabat – The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) held their due meeting on Thursday following King Mohammed VI dismissal of Abdelilah Benkirane.
As shown in a live video posted on Facebook moments after the meeting, Benkirane met with the local media to disclose the results of the party’s meeting, which according to him was held in “calm, clear and honest atmosphere.”
Benkirane stated that meeting discussed the King’s decision to dismiss him of his duties after five months of unfruitful negotiations with different political parties that resulted in a tenacious deadlock.
The PJD General Secretary will discuss this dismissal in a calm and positive manner, stated the PM, adding that while it did in fact affect the party, the PJD is “proud of its journey” and its efforts in leading the country.
To respect the party’s formalities, the PJD will hold another meeting this Saturday to discuss further the significance and ramifications of this decision, concluded Benkirane, refusing to take any questions from the media.
A formal press released will be soon published by the party, detailing the circumstances of the General Secretary meeting.
