Rabat – Head of Government Saad Eddine El Othman met with a delegation of the Moroccan Confederation of Very Small and Small-Medium-Sized Businesses on July 16 to discuss global challenges faced by these companies and entrepreneurs.
During the meeting in at his home in Salé, El Othmani highlighted the importance of medium-sized businesses or smaller, which make up 95 percent of the national economic market and are the main employer in the kingdom. He also affirmed that his government was determined to support these businesses, putting in place measures that would meet their needs.
The delegation, led by Abdelillah El Fergui, presented a dossier regarding current obstacles for these companies, including late payment, problem of accessing public contracts, and lack of interest from Walis and senior officials in this type of business.
After this discussion, El Othmani suggested organising a workshop for various members of the government to diagnose the problems, their causes, and how they can be resolved in the shortterm.
The topic of this year’s Finance Bill was also raised, and both the head of government and confederation delegation “agreed to continue the dialogue with the intention of making proposals that could be included late,” noted the press release.
El Fergui announced that the organization’s first ever national meeting would take place in Casablanca on October 25 and 26, and asked El Othmani to chair it, which the head of government agreed to in principal.
