Rabat – Security officers arrested a Brazilian traveler on Thursday at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, in possession of 6 kilograms of cocaine.
The 27-year old suspect arrived on a flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil and was in transit to Ghana’s capital city, Accra, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of National security. Law enforcement officers found carefully wrapped drugs inside his suitcase during a routine search.
The defendant was put in custody while an investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out as part of the efforts made by Moroccan security services to fight against cross-border crimes, particularly international drug trafficking.
