Rabat – Authorities and customs police in Tangier seized 490 kilograms of hashish resin at the Tanger-Med port facility on Friday.

A statement by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said that the drug shipment was concealed inside a truck bound for Spain.

The police arrested the truck driver and placed him in custody for further investigation. Other suspects may be identified as the investigation continues.

Earlier in April, police seized 53 kilograms of cannabis in a shipping truck in Tanger-Med Port. The authorities arrested the truck driver who was attempting to reach Spain after X-rays revealed the drugs concealed behind the vehicle frame and the engine cooling system.
