Rabat – The Université Privée de Fès (UPF) has announced the launch of the American International Institute (AII) in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) and Cintana Education.
The university will mark the launch with a two-day celebration on September 22 in Fez and September 23 in Rabat.
This launch follows UPF’s announcement in July of joining the ASU–Cintana Alliance, a global network of universities committed to providing high-quality, internationally connected education.
The AII is the first institution in Morocco to offer American double degrees in partnership with ASU, ranked the most innovative university in the United States for 10 years in a row by U.S. News & World Report.
The event will bring together academic leaders, students, government officials, business representatives, and international partners under the theme: “Building a Global Campus in Morocco: The Future of Higher Education Starts Here.”
The ceremony in Rabat will see the participation of senior officials from the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Economic Inclusion and Employment, and representatives from the US Embassy in Rabat.
The event will also feature a keynote by Rick Shangraw, President of Cintana Education, titled “Global Education for the Next Generation of Moroccan Leaders.”
Double degrees and global opportunities
The new institution offers American double-degree programs at both bachelor and master levels. Students will graduate with two diplomas: one from UPF, recognized by Morocco, and one from Arizona State University.
Courses are taught in English and follow ASU’s curriculum, designed to meet global industry needs and enhanced by digital learning tools, says UPF in a press release.
Students will also have access to international learning and mobility across the ASU–Cintana Alliance, which includes 32 institutions in 28 countries.
They can also take part in global competitions, masterclasses, and signature courses from ASU, as well as have access to advanced technology-driven learning experiences, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, teachers will benefit from academic development programs, joint research, and international best practices in education.
“With the American International Institute, we are bringing world-class education directly to Morocco,” said Mohammed Aziz Lahlou, President of UPF. He added that through this partnership with Arizona State University and Cintana Education, “students will now access double degrees, international experiences, and academic excellence to prepare them as Morocco’s next generation of leaders.”
The university states that the creation of the AII aligns with Morocco’s reforms in higher education, which focus on digital transformation, internationalization, employability, and quality assurance.
