Dounia Batma reportedly paid MAD 500,000 for her provisional release.
Rabat – The National Judicial police in Marrakech summoned Dounia Batma’s husband and manager Mohammed Turc on Monday, December 30 for alleged involvement in the “Hamza mon bb” case. Turc’s name only came into the case today.
Police previously summoned both Dounia Batma and her sister Ibtissam.
While Francophone news outlet le360 reported that Dounia Batma’s sister, Ibtissam Batma, is currently behind bars, Arabic news outlet Hespress reported that the sisters paid MAD 500,000 each to obtain provisional release. The Batma sisters are both facing charges of defamation and blackmail.
The police seized Dounia’s passport and phone, now subject to technical examinations to determine the level of her involvement in the case.
The prosecution started after authorities received a series of lawsuits against admins of a set of social media accounts under the name of ‘Hamza mon bb.’
The admins had been consistently sharing inappropriate content about Moroccan celebrities and figures for the purposes of blackmail.
