Rabat – A Royal Air Maroc (RAM) Dreamliner delivered a shipment of 2 million Sinopharm doses at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport on Saturday, July 17
The Dreamliner landed at the Casablanca Airport on Saturday morning, and the shipment has been delivered to the Autonomous Refrigeration Authority of Casablanca (RAFC). The Sinopharm-made COVID-19 vaccines will then be further distributed to various regional vaccination centers, according to converging reports from local media.
The latest Sinopharm delivery coincides with Morocco’s expansion of its national vaccination campaign, as authorities have now begun to vaccinate nationals and residents in the 30-35 age group.
This was the second Sinopharm delivery coming from Beijing this week, following a shipment of another 2 million doses that arrived on July 13. To date, Sinopharm has delivered a total of 16.5 million of its vaccines to Morocco.
Morocco has also received over 7 million doses of the British-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccine, as well as additional 900,000 doses through COVAX – the international COVID-19 vaccine relief program.

With Saturday’s 2,853 new COVID-19 cases, Morocco has registered a total of 555,488 cases. As of the last announcement, there are 15,253 active cases in Morocco, while there have been a total of 9,434 COVID-19 related deaths in the country so far.
Observers and health authorities alike have been ringing the alarm bell, as Morocco’s COVID case count rises faster than ever. By any measure, the current wave is spreading exponentially faster than either Morocco’s first or second waves.
During Morocco’s second wave, it took over 100 days for the case count to rise from the low hundreds to nearly 3,000. This time around, it only took 26 days for the case count to jump from 288 on June 21, to 2,853 by July 17.
