Rabat – A Polish economic mission will visit Morocco in September with the aim of expanding into “one of Africa’s most interesting markets,” reports the Polish news outlet INN:Poland.
The visit will take place between September 12 and 19, 2021, with the Polish representatives visiting various regional investment centers, including, but not limited to, Casablanca, Dakhla, and Laayoune, according to the
Polish publication. The working trip is the result of the Moroccan Ambassador to Poland Abderrahim Atmoun’s tireless work, a mission that commenced in 2019 – and despite the obstacles presented by the pandemic – which led to the two countries’ economic cooperation reaching “new heights.”
“I am convinced that Morocco can become an economic center for Polish companies, especially those wishing to conquer African markets,” the Polish outlet quoted Atmoun.
Ahead of the working trip, Atmoun met with the Polish Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Economic Cooperation, Development and African and Middle East Policy Pawel Jablonski in early August.
“This is not only one of the most important countries in North Africa, but also a very promising market for Polish business,” Jablonski said on the occasion, adding that the Polish government will support the domestic businesses who decide to make the leap and establish operations in Morocco.
The news outlet specified that the Polish mission will consist of FlyArgo, a gyrocopter (helicopter) manufacturer that signed a joint investment declaration in Morocco last year.
Other companies to make the trip will include LUG Light Factory, EV Charge, as well as EMER, a producer of processed animal proteins and melted animal fats; Alumast, manufacturer of light poles, flagpoles and advertising masts; and Ogniochron, which specializes in fire extinguisher manufacture.
Most of these companies have already expressed previous interest in investing in Morocco, specifically in Western Sahara. INN:Poland highlighted that as the US plans a massive investment program in the region, “Polish companies have a chance to be part of the coming investment boom.”
