Rabat – The mother of Abdellatif Hammouchi, the chief of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security and General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) died on Thursday, August 12.
The family of Hammouchi buried the deceased today following the Friday prayers.
Public figures and Moroccan internet users expressed condolences to Hammouchi through social media posts.
Hammouchi is among top security officials in Morocco. Hammouchi is often described as “the super cop” or “the super-agent who never sleeps.”
A few years ago, Spanish newspaper El Pais paid tribute to Hammouchi’s contribution to maintaining national security in Morocco.
Italian daily II Post also praised the Hammouchi-led DGST-DGSN’s efforts in dismantling terrorist networks and ridding Morocco of terrorist strikes in recent years.
French news outlet Jeune Afrique wrote a similar portray on Hammouchi, describing him as “King Mohammed VI’s supercop.”
“The most senior police officer of the kingdom is also the most senior intelligence agent. An unprecedented number of positions entrusted to one person speaks volumes about the trust placed in him by King Mohammed VI,” Jeune Afrqiue quoted Abdelhak El Khiame, the former Head of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ).
