Rabat – Morocco’ Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Friday that several pedagogical and organizational measures have been taken in anticipation of an effective start of the school year on October 1.
This means the country’s school programs have been updated to adapt to the actual start date of the 2021-22 school year. Updates include school vacations, school homework, and examinations, with the goal of preserving school time and completing the courses, both in public and private schools.
The statement also announced students will benefit from review and support sessions through the electronic platform and mobile application TelmidTICE and television broadcasting, as of September 13, according to a specific schedule.
It further urged parents and teachers to supervise students to make the most of this period and gradually familiarize themselves with the studies through the use of various educational resources available, textbooks, booklets, educational platforms. They should also help students carry out self-learning activities and parallel reading and follow up on the revision sessions and support that will be disseminated.
The ministry stressed the psychological and moral support students should receive and the role parents and teachers have in this regard, especially in this exceptional situation marked by the emergence of the Covid-19.
As for higher education and scientific research, access exams will be organized remotely for vocational BA and master. Universities will be broadcasting televised courses, according to a program to be announced in the coming days.
Students will also be provided with digital content through university platforms for self-study, and the process of access to restricted institutions will be organized through the gateway system, as well as the evaluation of students’ foreign language skills for those subject to the Bachelor system.
Also mentioned in the statement is a rescheduling of vocational training. It noted that trainees will be informed of the modalities of re-entry in anticipation of their training courses and the possibility of organizing remote revision sessions.
The statement concluded by urging parents to massively encourage their children to commit to the national vaccination operation and to continue to respect the precautionary measures recommended by the authorities for an effective start of classes in normal conditions.
The ministry has already announced postponing the start of this school year to October 1, as part of Morocco’s intensified efforts to face the pandemic.
