Rabat – The Moroccan national football team ranked 29th in the recent FIFA Ranking updated today, October 21.

The new ranking indicates that Morocco climbed four spots. With an overall score of 151, Morocco also positioned itself as the third best football squad in Africa, according to FIFA’s latest ranking.

Senegal, which is ranked as the 20th best team worldwide, tops the list in Africa, followed by Tunisia, who ranked 27th place globally.

Algeria, the 30th best team in the world, is ranked the fourth-best team in Africa followed by Nigeria (36th), and Egypt (44th).

Globally, Belgium leads the FIFA ranking as the first best team in the world, followed by Brazil, France, Italy, and England.

Argentina ranked as the sixth-best team in the world, followed by Spain and Portugal.

Morocco’s FIFA ranking has improved considerably both in terms of position and in terms of score following the national team’s recent performances as part of the 2022 World Cup qualifier games.

Under the leadership of Vahid Halilhodzic, head coach of Morocco’s national team, the Atlas lions managed to secure crucial victories, and land an impressive record in the World Cup qualifiers.

On October 12, Morocco’s football team dominated Guinea with a 4-1 score.

On October 9, the Atlas Lions maintained their record by defeating Guinea Bissau 3-0.

The victory comes a few days after the Atlas Lions defeated the same opponent 5-0.

Halilhodzic emphasized that the national team needs more work and training to secure a place in the World Cup finals.

The Bosnian coach, however, takes great pride in his team.

“The Moroccan players were on time and presented the required level in a match that was not easy, and we made double efforts to win,” the coach said after the match against Guinea.
