Rabat – Morocco’s National Funds for Social Security and Healthcare have become part of the country’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, instead of the Ministry of Labor and Professional insertion, which the funds were previously part of.
A decree released by the head of Morocco’s government, Aziz Akhannouch, detailed this transition, among other new duties for Morocco’s new Minister of Economy, Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
Morocco’s new government seems to have an ambitious plan for social programs, with the new finance bill for 2022 upping government spending to support new social programs.
Alaoui is also in charge of the governmental authority of public affairs, as well as other responsibilities related to investments and the economic climate.
The decree also details other duties that would be given to Alaoui’s ministry, such as coordination with international finance organizations like the World Bank, application of pricing and competition legislation, as well as keeping the Ministry’s previous duties.
The changes went into effect on October 8, prior to the official release of the decree on official government channels.
