Rabat – Moroccan Ambassador to Peru Amin Chaoudri is full of praise regarding the results of the joint declaration signed by the US, Morocco, and Israel on December 22 last year.
Chaoudri expressed his satisfaction with ties between the three countries during a ceremony held in Lima to commemorate the first anniversary of the Abraham Accord.
The Moroccan diplomat recalled the variety of agreements that the three countries have signed, including the opening and launching of diplomatic representations in Morocco and Israel.
“This agreement sparked new hope and paved the way for an era of peace, stability, tolerance, harmony, and coexistence,” the Moroccan diplomat said.
He commented on the anniversary ceremony, describing it as an opportunity to celebrate the historic decision of the US to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara.
Former US President Donald Trump announced the decision last year in December. The current White House administration has upheld the recognition.

The Moroccan ambassador said that “relations between Morocco and Israel draw their strength from the long-standing attachment of the Jewish community of Moroccan origin to the kingdom” as well as the “unwavering” links between the community and King Mohammed VI.
Israeli ambassador to Lima Asaf Ichilevich similarly welcomed the restoration of diplomatic relations with Morocco and the achievements and advances made last year despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
He also expressed his wish to further consolidate bilateral cooperation, particularly regarding the economy and culture.
“During the 19th century, a Moroccan Jewish community had emigrated to Peru, to the Amazon, and their descendants kept their name and their religion and a Moroccan Jewish cemetery, which constitutes a symbol of very good trilateral relations between Morocco, Peru, and Israel,” the ambassador said.
In addition to Peru, Washington DC also celebrated the first anniversary of the Abraham Accords last week.
Princess Lalla Joumala, Morocco’s ambassador to the US attended the ceremony along with the Israeli ambassador to the US.f
