Rabat – Morocco’s Health Ministry announced a total of 8,338 new cases reported throughout the country as of January 13.
The country’s active COVID cases reached 49,491 while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%, with 10 new COVID-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate stood at 93.7% as 1,711 people recovered in the last 24 hours.
Health officials reported 59 new critical cases admitted in the last 24 hours, with 12 patients receiving treatment under intubation, and 131 patients under non-invasive ventilation.
In terms of COVID vaccination, the total number of fully vaccinated individuals in Morocco reached 22,998,743, while 24,608,541 of the population have been administered their first dose.
Morocco launched the administration of the third dose on October 4. To date, 3,705,262 individuals have been administered a “booster shot.”
Regionally, Casablanca-Settat region recorded 4,596 new COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths, making it the highest ranked region in terms of new cases. Rabat-Sale-Kenitra comes second with 1,402 new cases, followed by Marrakech- Safi with 662 new cases and 4 deaths.
The southeastern region of the country recorded relatively fewer cases. Health officials in the Guelmim –Oued Noun region, Laayoune-Sakia El-Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab registered 78, 36, and 14 cases respectively.
Since Morocco detected its first COVID-19 case in March 2020, the country has recorded 1,025,898 cases and 961,462 recoveries.
