Tangier is one of the most wonderful Moroccan cities worth visiting and enjoying. With its famous tourist attractions and various charming sights, as well as its rich history that is felt throughout the city, Tangier is one of the most absorbing places to visit while in Morocco. So, let’s discover interesting sights you must visit in this wonderful northern Moroccan city.

Malabata Beach

You don’t need to travel around the city to visit beautiful sights. Tangier’s picturesque scenery awaits you once you get down from the train station. Malabata beach is just 10 minutes away from the Tanger-Ville Railway station. What is captivating about its view, is the combination of both natural and modern landscape; the beach, the hills, and the man-made, high-rise buildings characterized with modern architecture. 

Make sure you don’t miss the sunset while you are there. You can watch it while sitting in the Corniche.

Hercules Cave 

The Cave of Hercules is one of the most important tourist destinations in Tangier and one of the largest caves in Africa. It was discovered in 1906. Many myths and legends inspired by Greek mythology have been recounted regarding its creation. You won’t only be visiting a wonderful destination, but also a mysterious and historic cave.

It’s situated 14 kilometers west of Tangier.

You can’t visit a city in Morocco without drinking mint tea, and I have the perfect place for you!

What’s better than enjoying a cup of mint tea while gazing at charming natural scenery?

I present to you Café Hafa 

Café Hafa is one of the oldest cafes in the heart of the city, dating back to 1921. It’s marked by a mix of vintage and modern decor.

This enchanting place offers visitors the chance to relax with a special cup of mint tea amidst a beautiful view.

It’s located at Rue HafaØŒ Tanger.

For shopaholics, Grand Socco (Souk) is your stopping place

The Grand Souk is the commercial center of Tangier, where visitors can find anything they can think of, including popular restaurants, cafes, and bazaars with all kinds of fabrics along with traditional clothing, arts and craft stores, vegetables, fruits, spices, olive oil, olives, butchers, and grocers.

A small souk is located next to the big souk, and both souks are surrounded by numerous mosques and squares, as well as restaurants serving the most delicious Moroccan cuisine.

Cinema Rif

If you are not a shopping lover, but you are a cinephile, don’t leave Grand Socco because there is a place you need to visit.

Cinema Rif includes an art-house, movie theater, cafe, and a terrace on the Great Socco. It broadcasts Moroccan and international films.

Cap Spartel

Cap Spartel is one of the most important sightseeing areas in Tangier. It includes both the beach and forest areas. 

Next to Cap Spartel’s lighthouse there is a confluence point of the waves of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, where you can take the most beautiful souvenir photos.

It’s located 14 kilometers west of Tangier on the very same road that leads to the caves of Hercules.

Delacroix Art Gallery

Ernest Pignon-Ernest, Épidémie, Naples

If you are an art lover, this contemporary art gallery is a must-see. It holds exhibitions of various artists from Tangier, Morocco, and around the world and it’s free!

It’s located at : 86, rue de la Liberté, 90000 Tangier.

Tangier American legation museum

The historic building is the only US National Historic Landmark located in a foreign country, your visit to this distinguished museum will inform you about the cultural link between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Morocco, in addition to the strength of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The American Legation building has three sections, a Museum, a Research Library, and a Cultural Center, which hosts many important events.

The buildings of the American Legation are distinguished by their unique style, so this visit cannot pass without taking one more set of souvenir photos.

It’s located at: Located at 8 Zankat America, about 50 m from Bab Merican.

The Old Medina in Tangier

If you wish to travel back in time and see many architectural and ancient mosques and alleys, as well as ancient Moroccan buildings, you just need to visit the Old Medina in Tangier.

This is not a must-visit place but a must-try dish

While you are roaming the streets of Tangier, you must try a slice of the famous Kalinti; it’s a Chickpea flour tart, made from eggs, chickpea flour, and spices.

It’s sold by the slice or can be put in bread, it’s seasoned with cumin or paprika.

It’s a popular street food, so you will find it everywhere in Tangier, especially in the city center.

It’s very affordable, one slice will cost you 1 MAD, and will make you full!
