Rabat – Morocco’s Embassy in Serbia has organized a ceremony to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Serbia.
Morocco’s Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro Mohamed Amine Belhaj inaugurated on March 1 the ceremony at the postal-telegraphic-telephone museum in Belgrade, Serbia.
Joining Ambassador Belhaj, the Assistant to Serbia’s Minister of Culture and Information Stanko Blagojevic and the Director of the Serbian Post Zoran Dordevic stressed the exceptional role of cultural cooperation in bringing people together, Morocco’s diplomatic representation in Belgrade reported in a press release.
On the occasion of 65th Moroccan-Serbian relations, partners from both countries worked jointly in developing a rich program highlighting cultural and economic events. Art affairs, as well as economic and artisanal forums, are scheduled to reinforce bilateral relations.
Barid Al-Maghrib Group launched two special postage stamps jointly with Posta Serbia. The stamps depict important infrastructural symbols in Morocco and Serbia, Africa’s longest bridge, Mohammed VI bridge, and Serbia’s renowned international rail corridor, Rail Bridge.

Additionally, Ambassador Belhaj inaugurated a two-month-long Moroccan philatelic exhibition with the bridges of the Serbian capital and the headquarters of Posta Serbia lit up at night with the colors of Moroccan flags – red and green.

The special edition post stamps and the Moroccan exhibition in Serbia reflect the “bonds of trust and unity” linking the two countries, noted the press release.
The jubilee also demonstrates the long-standing friendship between the two countries and their bilateral cooperation in key sectors.
“Morocco is a friend of the Republic of Serbia whom we share common values and interests. The Republic of Serbia considers the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative, under Morocco’s Sovereignty, as a serious and credible solution,” said Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic in a visit to Morocco in May 2021.
Selakovic’s visit concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding on political consultations as well as three bilateral agreements on the fields of defense, culture, higher education and research, media, and youth and sports.
As for trade cooperation, Morocco and Serbia expressed a mutual desire to advance economic and trade relations in a meeting between both countries’ Chambers of Commerce in February 2021.
Voivodina Bosco, the President of Voivodina’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, called for the exploration of cooperation opportunities between both parties.
President of Casablanca-Settat’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yassir Adil agreed with Bosco. He noted that trade relations show “the long road ahead to achieve the goals set in terms of exploring and exploiting the potential for bilateral cooperation in promising sectors.”
In 2020, Moroccan exports to Serbia reached $62.84 million while the imports amounted to $6.37 million, based on Trading Economics data.
