Rabat – An Israeli delegation arrived in Morocco on Tuesday to explore new opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries.
The visit follows the Negev summit in Israel with representatives from renowned Israeli economic organizations in attendance: the Export Institute, the Israeli Employers and Business Organizations (IEBO), the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce (FICC), and the Manufacturers Association (MAI).
The delegation aims to explore Morocco’s business climate and its leading industries to strengthen cooperation opportunities between the two countries, Einat Levi from Israel’s liaison office in Morocco said on Linkedin on Tuesday.
Morocco’s business confederation (CGEM) will host the Israeli delegation.
The Israeli representatives are scheduled to visit Casablanca, Tangier, and Marrakech to meet with their Moroccan counterparts from the economic sector such as the Moroccan Agency for investment and export development (AMDIE), Casablanca Finance City (CFC), and the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA).
“The importance of economic ties is much more than merely generating benefit, it is the creation of numerous self-sufficient and motivated bridges that can generate constant movement and ties between the people’s of both countries,” Levi wrote on Linkedin.
On March 16, CGEM and IEBO signed a partnership agreement to advance trade, investment, and technological development between Morocco and israel.
CGEM has also sent around 80 Moroccan businessmen and women from different sectors to Israel as part of inaugurating Royal Air Maroc’s direct route between Casablanca to Tel Aviv.
Royal Air Maroc will operate four flights per week on its new Casablanca-Tel Aviv route.
The two countries pledged to boost trade and investment cooperation, with the Israeli Minister of Economy Orna Barbivai conveying its country’s aim to increase the volume of bilateral trade with Morocco to $500 million or more, up from the current $130 million.
