Rabat – Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc announced on Wednesday that unvaccinated people over six years old can enter Morocco with a negative PCR test.

The new conditions to board international flights to Morocco will come into force starting today, May 18.

Royal Air Maroc said in a recent tweet that passengers over six years old are eligible to enter Morocco if they have a valid vaccination pass or a negative PCR test taken less than 48 hours before departure.

Passengers will also have to fill out a passenger health form that can be found online at www.onda.ma/form.php.

The travelers have to sign the form before check-in.

Royal Air Maroc added that passengers younger than six-years-old will only be asked to fill out the health form.

A government statement on Tuesday announced the end of mandatory PCR testing for visitors to Morocco without providing further details.

The statement emphasized that travelers will no longer need a negative PCR test if they have a vaccine pass.

The government took the decision on the basis of the improved epidemiological situation, the head of the government’s office announced on Tuesday.

The easing of restrictions comes a few weeks ahead of Operation Marhaba 2022 which anticipates the flow of millions of Moroccans residing abroad during the summer season.

Operation Marhaba is an annual initiative that facilitates the transit of Moroccan diaspora members who visit their country of origin for the summer season.

Operation Marhaba starts in June and ends in September.

With the easing of COVID-19 related measures, Morocco is expected to see a further recovery in the tourism industry.

The government is already satisfied with the recent development within the sector.

Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor stated that the sector reached a revenue of MAD 9.7 billion, nearly $1 billion, in the first three months of 2022. The number represents an 80% increase compared to the same period last year.

Morocco’s tourism revenues confirm that the industry has substantially recovered from its COVID-19 induced losses since the reopening of borders in February
