Laayoune – Morocco and Israel signed on Tuesday a bilateral cooperation agreement in volleyball, reported the Israeli News Outlet Ynet.

The signing ceremony took place at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of a number of officials from the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and Sports, as well as representatives of volleyball associations, said the report.

Signing the agreement were Bushra Hajiji, the head of the Moroccan Volleyball Association and the chairman of the African Volleyball Association, and Asher Kasso, the chairman of the Israeli Volleyball Association.

“Today we took action to promote volleyball, for peace and cooperation between nations and cultures. There is no better game than volleyball, which is also very good for promoting connections between people and cultures and mutual respect,” said Kasso.

Morocco and Israel have been upgrading their relations by signing many cooperation agreements in recent months in a variety of areas, including justice, economy, and sports.

Seeking to boost their collaboration to fight against crimes and terrorism, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on legal cooperation on July 27.

Nearly two years after the two nations resumed diplomatic relations through the US-brokered Abraham Accords, they have significantly improved their bilateral collaboration on a broad range of fields.

In addition, Morocco, Israel, Bahrain, and the UAE signed the “Culture and Sports for Peace” pact in April with the goal of strengthening their cooperation in sport and cultural dialogue.
