Rabat – Hulu’s war television series “No Man’s Land” has headed to Morocco to begin principal photography of its second season, Variety magazine announced on Tuesday.

Morocco has once again proven to be a major backdrop for major Hollywood film and international television productions, notably those set in the desert or the Middle East.

Released on October 2020, the first season of the series “was received warmly by viewers across 114 territories,” added the source. The work depicted an outsider’s perspective on Syria’s civil war.

Israeli producer and director Rotem Shamir is in charge of the second season, which is “set amidst the ongoing Syrian civil war and follows a female freedom fighter group and the portrayal of radicalized westerners who join ISIS,” added the statement.

No Man’s Land 2 is commissioned by European public service channel Arte and American streaming service Hulu. In addition, it is produced by France’s Haut et Court TV, New York-based Masha, and Tel Aviv-based Spiro Films in collaboration with British television production company Fremantle.

“With the first season, we were able to bring audiences a gritty war thriller unlike any other and were delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories,” said Masha’s producer Maria Feldman.

“Now I am excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters — played by these powerful, amazing talents, where we have the chance to develop the story and show audiences what is next for the protagonists,” Feldman added.

Fremantle’s President of Global Drama Christian Vesper said that it gives him “unbelievable pleasure” to join forces with “exceptionally talented teams” and produce a second season of the show to be enjoyed by fans around the globe.

In addition, Head of Drama at Arte France Olivier Wotling expressed his pride to take part in the production of the series, which will “reveal the experiences and realities of a global conflict at a human level.”
